2022 – Go West
In 2022 we headed out west with reaching the Pacific Ocean in Oregon and Washington. It was an epic trip with lots of speed bumps due to inclement weather and other “emergencies”. During our stay in Lavon, TX I fell and hurt my shoulder really bad. I couldn’t drive for some days and Maria had to act as chauffeur. We net with some of my ex-coworkers for lunch and hung out with our youngest son for a couple of times.
From Lavon we drove to our next stop – Palo Duro Canyon State Park aka Grand Canyon of TX. Here we did a couple of touristy things, Cadillac Ranch (nah), Panhandle-Plains Historical Museum (worth it) and Sisemore RV Museum (a gem). All in or close to Amarillo Texas. We also needed a Dentist since Maria developed a tooth infection. Palo Duro Canyon was a real surprise. It is the second largest canyon in the USA and well worth a visit.
In Colorado we were boondocking on a nice private property in Leadville. During our stay we visited the National Mining Hall of Fame and Museum which we enjoyed a lot. The day before we needed to move it started to snow and the next morning we had about 18 inches of snow. This was end of May and a reminder that we were at an elevation above 10,000ft or 3,000 Meter. We were thankful to have 4 wheel drive on the Pickup truck.
More to come.
