Tucson, AZ

5/11/2024 – On Sunday, 5/5/2024, we packed up and relocated to Voyager RV Resort in Tucson. A nice resort with a nice pool, hot tub and lots of other amenities.

Monday we visited San Xavier Mission which dates back to the late 1700 and is still active. What a nice building.

Staying with our normal routine, one day of rest and one day of exploring, Tuesday was a slow day and we hung our at the resort.

Wednesday we visited Saguaro National Park on the west side of Tucson. Millions of Saguaro cacti, very impressive. Mt. Lemmon was next. Mt. Lemmon is the highest point in the Santa Catalina Mountains, topping out at more than 9,000 feet and is about 1-1 1/2hour drive from the center of Tucson. Since Tucson’s  elevation is about 2,400 you a climbing nearly 7000ft during this drive. Our little SUV, SuziQ, was huffing and puffing but we reached the parking area at an elevation of 9131ft. there are lots of pullouts on this road and the views are breathtaking. We stopped at one of the picnic areas and had a late lunch.

Wednesday we did some grocery shopping and went to the pool for a bit.

Thursday another day of rest and on Friday we went back to  Saguaro NP on the west side of Tucson for a 2.5 mile hike. The trail was called King Canyon Wash Trail and followed a dry river bed. At the end of this trail we joined another trail and headed back to the parking lot. After another quick stop at the visitor center we decided to check out the eastern part of the National Park. After getting some information at the Visitor Center we went on the loop drive and stopped at a Picnic area for lunch. The loop is 8 miles in length and runs through the desert with lots of pullouts to enjoy the view.

Today, Saturday, we are at the resort hanging out at the motorhome, pool and getting ready to leave tomorrow. Next stop will be Mesa, AZ just southeast of Phoenix.
