Sorry for the late update….
From Tall Chief Campground we moved to Mount Vernon Campground. Here we stayed for a week. During this week we drove to Washington Pass (el. 5477 ft./1669 m.) on State Route 20 in the North Cascades mountains. Very impressive area with amazing views. We also took a Whale watching tour out of Anacortes. The tour was about 4hours and we saw a family of Orcas with a young one and two Humpback whale. On the boat were 3 Naturalists who were very knowledgeable on whales and talked about the whales, habitat and how to identify.
Next stop was Birch Bay Campground in Blaine. The border to Canada was only 5-6 miles north of us. The campground was nice with mostly Buddy sites (shares the common area between two sites). Our neighbors (buddies) were from Vancouver, Canada and we had some nice talks about their and our travel adventures. From this campground we explored Mt. Baker. At the highest point, Artist Point, was still lots of snow and they had just cleared and opened the road on Jun 26. We did some short hiking trails since most of them still had lots of snow on the path and we were not prepared properly. One of the hikes was Rainy Lake Trail which ended at the lake which was fed by some waterfalls. Very beautiful.
Sunday we moved to Grandy Creek RV Resort near Concrete.
Until next update,
Maria & Bernhard
