Lake Havasu and Grand Canyon

Lake Havasu – 6/2 – 6/5, Grand Canyon 6/5 – 6/8/2024

We moved to Lake Havasu State Park on 6/2 and set up. Lake Havasu is a reservoir created by Parker Dam and the Colorado River. It is a major area for watersports and was very busy during our stay. We didn’t do too much during our stay since the temperatures reached 110 degrees and it was to hot to do anything outsides.

On 6/5 we drove to Ten-X Campground, about 8 miles south of the entrance to the Grand Canyon NP. Ten-X Campground is run by the Forest Service and has no hook ups (dry camping).  late afternoon we drove into the park and parked at the visitor center. A short walk and we were at the south rim of Grand Canyon. What a sight!!! Totally different from the north rim we have seen 3 years ago. Thursday we hiked some of the Rim Trail; Friday we drove to the Watchtower about 22 miles east of the visitor center and enjoyed the amazing views. On our wsy back to the Vilage we stopped at a nice picnoc area and had lunch. After a couple more stops to enjoy the views we ended up at the Village, had an ice cream and headed back to the campground in late afternoon. Saturday we packed up and headed south to Cottonwood where we checked in at Verde Valley RV Resort where we will be until Sunday 6/16.

Until next update,

Maria and Bernhard
