Deer Creek State Park, UT and Mary’s Campground, ID

07/28 – 08/04/2024 – Deer Creek State Park

After a couple of weeks in the desert area of Utah we drove to Deer Creek State Park about an hour away from Salt Lake City. The park is located at a reservoir and a lot of green vegetation which was highly appreciated after spending lots of time in desert areas. The sites are very spacious and the park is well maintained. There are  a couple of waterfalls in the area.  One day we went into Provo for lunch and grocery shopping. What a nice town. As a group we drove to Mirror Lake, about 1 1/2 hours drive in the mountains. The drive was very mountainous and SuziQ was huffing and puffing to get up some of the inclines. We hiked around the lake and scouted out the campground  which looked very nice and we might stay there next time we are in the area.

Saturday we went into Salt Lake City and toured the Capitol which was very interesting. They had a whole floor dedicated to movies made in Utah, like Independence Day, Louise and Thelma, lots of John Wayne and other Western movies.

Sunday was moving day and we headed to Mary’s Campground in Lava Hot Springs in Idaho. Monday we went to the hot springs and soaked ourselves in 105 to 112 degree water. It was pretty relaxing. After the hot springs we went to the Olympic sized pool where we cooled down a bit. We had some fun jumping from the dive tower and going down a slide where you caught some air, scary but fun.

Tuesday and Wednesday we hung out at the campground and did some laundry and maintenance of  the  motorhomes.

Thursday Maria and I split from the other two couples and  started to head East whereas  Dorsey, Kyle, Kelly and Chris headed to Twin Falls. We all had a great time traveling together and enjoyed the company.

On Thursday we drove a whopping 320miles to Rawlins, MY and stayed at a Walmart parking lot overnight. Friday we made it to Chappell, Nebraska where we set up at Creekside RV and Campground. Here we will stay for two nights before continuing our trip towards Cedar Falls, Iowa.

Until next update,

Maria and Bernhard
