Long Beach, WA and Portland Fairview, OR

Finally another update!! Sunday 7/27 we broke camp and Maria was driving to Seattle to pick up her sister who will travel with us for 2 weeks. I headed to Long Beach, WA and set up at the Thousand Trails RV Resort. In the early afternoon Maria called to let me know that SuziQ’s Clutch pedal is at the floor and shifting is impossible. It took nearly 2 hours for a tow truck to show up. In the meantime I made reservations for a rental car at the Airport since nothing else was open close by. Eventually Maria and Uli arrived at the Campground at 9:30PM. During our week at Long Beach we visited the Capitol building in Olympia, walked the nicely tended grounds and Fort Clatsop, where Lewis and Clark sheltered from December 1805 to March 1806. Lots of history about the expedition. We also went to Canon Beach which is famous for the huge rocks at the beach. The weather was overcast and with the spray it looked a little surreal.

Sunday 8/3 we moved to Portland Fairview RV Park in Oregon. The campground is close to town and on the noisy side since its in the path of the close by airport. However, we had a great time. We visited some of the waterfalls in the Columbia River Gorge, the amazing Rose garden in Portland and Ft. Vancouver  across the river in Vancouver, WA. On Saturday we dropped of Uli at Seattle Airport since her vacation came to an end. All three of us enjoyed the time together.
