Blue Mesa Recreational Ranch, Gunnison Colorado

On 5/1/2025 we arrived at our home for the next 3 weeks. On Friday, shopping was first on order since we had an echo in our refrigerator. Saturday we ventured out towards the ranger station on the north rim of the Black Canyon. We didn’t make it too far since SuziQ started to overheat and losing power.  We stopped, let her cool down and turned around. We had about 12 miles to get home which required multiple stops to let the engine cool down. We made it back, however, now SuziQ will barely idle and not take any gas. She has an appointment for diagnostics in Gunnison on Monday.

Wednesday, I rode my bicycle to Gunnison and picked up a rental car.

Thursday, we drove CO92 to get to the Ranger Station on the North Rim of the canyon, however, we must have taken a wrong turn and ended up on a very rugged dirt road and opted to turn around.

Friday, we drove over Monarch Pass. Monarch Pass (elevation 11,312 feet (3,448 m)) is a high mountain pass in central Colorado, in the Rocky Mountains of the western United States. Our destination was Salida, which is a small town  at an elevation of 7100ft along the Arkansas River. We walked in the downtown area for a bit before the rain came in. Since we had to cross Monarch Pass again we decided to head back since we were afraid that it might snow in higher elevations.  This was unfounded since the Sun was shinning when we arrived at the top.

Until next update,

Maria and Bernhard
