Benson, AZ

After 2 days on the road with stops in Van Horn, TX and Las Cruces, NM we arrived on 4/28 at Valley Vista RV Resort in Benson, AZ.

After setting up we explored the Campground. The sites are gravel with FHU (full hookup – Electricity, Water, Sewer).  There is also a small pool, some outdoor games, TV room and laundry room.

Tuesday we drove to Bisbee and took a old Copper mine tour. Very interesting since the tour guide was working in that mine before it was shut down. Bisbee itself is a nice little town with a very eclectic feel. Lots of artsy stuff throughout the old town like murals, sculptures and a diverse selection of restaurants and shops. On the south side of town is a huge open mine  where they mined for Copper.

Thursday we took a guided tour of the Kartchner Caverns. The caverns were discovered in the 70th and are still very active. Inside, it was 70 degrees with 99% humidity. Unfortunately it is not allowed to take photos, but the cave is beautiful and worthwhile to visit.

Saturday we visited Tombstone where Doc Holiday and Wyatt Earp lived for a while. Also the OK Corral where a very famous shootout took place is in Tombstone. The town itself is very touristy with at least 3 or 4 locations where the shootout is reenacted multiple times a day. We visited the old Court House Museum which provided lots of historic information and artifacts.
