Our stay at this campground is slowly but surely coming to an end. On Thursday we drove to Quincy, IL located at the Mississippi River. It is one of the bigger towns in the area with about 50,000 people. At the town square is Washington Park where Democratic senator Stephen A. Douglas and Republican challenger Abraham Lincoln during the 1858 Illinois senatorial campaign held a debate. Also there are some very nicely restored old buildings and the old Library which is a historical museum with lots of stained glass windows on display. After having lunch at a Thai Restaurant and grocery shopping we headed back home late afternoon.
Friday we spent at the campground, had a nice walk up to the Lodge and around the lake. Maria caught up on her knitting, I spent an hour or so under Schnitzel for needed some maintenance work. It was a nice, slow day.
